This is an amazing start to a Stearman for someone looking for their first warbird to restore, or someone that s done a dozen before. Very complete, very nice condition, and the cheapest WW2 warbird project out there. Aircraft was stationed at Naval Air Station Minneapolis, what is now Minneapolis St Paul International, during WW2 with the Navy. Last in annual in 1978, the aircraft was disassembled for a long term restoration that was started, but not really worked on.Wings are still together but uncovered. Good for repair, the spars look to be good and reusable, if rebuild is desired. Cabanes and flying wires are in nice condition. Tail feathers are covered in old covering. The main landing gear is some of the best we ve seen with a project. Restoration work was already started on tailwheel. Has a pair of Bendix wheels. The hard to find tailwheel boot skin bracket is in very nice condition. The gear fairings are in nice condition as well, you shouldn t need an english wheel!Airplane time state:Approximately 7000TTAF. Aircraft was previously equipped with a 300hp Lycoming. Project comes with various firewall and forward components including the engine mount, oil tank, dishpan, side skins, fuel filter housing, and all those little brackets/pulleys/small pieces that mount to the firewall.
